Wrong Spark Plugs

I recently had an older Honda Odyssey come into the shop for a few recalls and other repairs, and found that it had some codes in the computer indicating misfires. It was misfiring on all 6 cylinders. First thing to do when you have a misfire is to pull the ignition coils and spark plugs for the cylinders that are misfiring. I quickly found the problem.

Quick Drive: 1983 Mazda RX-7

One of my coworkers recently purchased a 1983 Mazda RX-7, and he recently let me take it for a spin after work. Before this, the oldest vehicle I’d driven was a 1985 Chevy S-10, and I’d never driven anything with a rotary engine, so this was a first for me in a couple areas.

New York to Missouri, and Back

Just over a week ago, I returned from a my solo road trip. I drove from Rochester, New York, to Springfield, Missouri, and back. It’s a 16 hour drive each way, which I spread over two days each way. A lot of time spent in a car, but it was worth it for the time I spent with friends there.

More Good Engineering

A while back I made a post about how Honda CR-V subframes have a hole in them that allows you to easily reach a bolt on the exhaust pipe. I recently encountered another place where maintenance was clearly considered during design.

No Tire Rotations

Tire rotations are important. They give your tires their best chance at a long life by evening out wear, and save you money in the long run because you won’t have to replace tires as often.

Airbag Recalls

It’s no secret that there have been a lot of vehicles recalled for dangerous airbags. Up to 69 million vehicles worldwide are affected.

2017_02_27_01.jpg

If you have gotten a recall notice, please get your airbag changed as soon as possible. All Honda airbag inflators should be in stock at your local dealer and they take less than an hour to change, so you have no excuse. They are dangerous and can kill you.

If you aren’t sure whether your vehicle has been recalled, go to www.safercar.gov to check.

Don’t wait.
