Many new cars in the past few years are keyless start, requiring the key fob to only be present in the car to allow the ignition button to start the car. From what I’ve seen, the systems are pretty well designed and don’t have many problems. I had an interesting one come into the shop recently: it wouldn’t turn off.
Ask any mechanic, and they probably have a drawer or box full of old nuts and bolts. It may not be very often that they need to be rummaged through, but sometimes they can solve problems.
I was working on a used Subaru Forester, and found that it needed a rear wheel bearing. It’s a bolt-in wheel bearing, which are usually easier to replace than press-in, because you just have to remove the bolts and take it off, instead of having to the use a press to remove and install it.

I was starting work on a steering rack replacement, which requires lower the subframe a few inches. While preparing to remove the bolts holding the subframe, I discovered a problem.
Usually if a fuse blows, it means that there is an electrical fault in the circuit that it protects. However, a lot of times, when a fuse blows, people will just replace the fuse and not check to see why it blew. This car came in with the brake light fuse blown for a second time. I knew that there had to be a problem in the brake light wiring.
I’m often tasked with installing accessories on new cars that get sold at the dealership I work at. Recently I installed an engine block heater for the first time.

It’s usually not good to run over things in the road. This customer hit something much worse that did a lot of damage.
