A Civic was towed in, and we were told that the customer had hit something in the road and that the oil pan was broken. That was a little of an understatement.
The aluminum oil pan had a huge chunk taken out of it, and the exhaust pipe had a big dent.
As you might expect, because of the huge hole in the oil pan, there was oil all over the underside of the car from when the car was still driving after this happened.
You shouldn’t be able to see inside the bottom of the engine like this.
Even more impressive than the oil pan was the subframe. Whatever they hit, they definitely would’ve felt, because the dent in the subframe is huge, almost folding part of it. There were a few smaller marks farther down the rest of the car, but this was the worst of it.
