I was replacing the exhaust on an older Civic, and ran into a problem. One of the rubber exhaust hangers had torn, and it was one that went to two pegs on the exhaust instead of one, so to replace it I would’ve needed to wait a day for one from Honda.
Instead of making the customer wait another day for their car to be fixed, I took a coat hanger and carefully bent it into the shape of the original hanger. I took my time with it, and I think it turned out really well.
I used the coat hanger to keep the exhaust in the proper orientation, but then also got a generic rubber hanger so the exhaust would be suspended the way it normally is.
