Recently I had the experience of putting out a car fire. Usually, if your car catches fire, you don’t want to try to fight it. Just get out, get away, and call the fire department. Pretty much everything on a car is flammable, with all the plastics, foam, paint, tires, and almost all the fluids will burn well too.
The only reason I got involved in this car fire was because someone else opened the hood, so I came over with a fire extinguisher. Car fires can burn fast and be very dangerous, so it’s usually best to leave it to the professionals. Opening the hood if the engine is on fire is risky because you could burn your hands trying to get it open, get flames blasted in your face when you open it, and it allows more oxygen to get to the fire, feeding it even more.
