A customer at my dealership was test driving a used car when they heard a strange clunking noise. It was given to one of the technicians to find out what was wrong with it.
As soon as she got the car in the air and took the wheels off, it was obvious what was causing the noise. One of the rotors had cracked completely around the center. I’ve seen this happen while using a hammer to remove rusted on rotors, but this seemed to happen all on its own. I’m not sure what could’ve caused this besides a faulty rotor, because it’s clearly not very rusty and I can’t see any evidence of overheating.
