Sometimes during a busy workday it’s nice to stop and take a moment to consider the thinking behind the styling of a car.
The Honda Clarity is a hybrid, and the body is shaped in a way that makes it move through the air more efficiently. One little feature I found interesting is in front of the rear wheel wells.
Just in front of wheel well is a slit. At first glance you might think it’s decorative, meant to mimic the vents on high performance cars. Looking closer, it’s actually a duct that directs air around the wheel well, instead of letting it go into the wheel well and cause drag. How much of an advantage this gives to the overall efficiency of the car I don’t know, but it’s a thoughtful design.
