Recently I had to replace the heater box on a Honda Fit. To do this I had to remove the dashboard, which is a long, tedious job, even though I’ve done it a couple times already. This one took a little longer because the car had several aftermarket accessories wired in.
There was so much wiring packed behind the trim. I could see multiple bundles of extra wiring from what was inside. It took a while but I eventually figured out that most of it was an aftermarket alarm system.
It was extremely helpful that the car had been traded in before I began the job, which meant I could just cut out all of the extra wiring. If I hadn’t been able to do that it would’ve been a lot harder to take the dash out, but it still slowed me down because I had to be careful not to damage any of the vehicle’s wiring.
