Recently my 1997 Civic had started running roughly and misfiring in the morning. Based on what my car did after driving through a puddle once I had an idea what the problem might be.
I figured that the morning dampness was the cause. Moisture would get into the distributor and spark plug wire connections and cause problems with the ignition. I disconnected the plug wires from the distributor and filled the connectors with dielectric grease. The next morning was damp like the others had been and the engine ran perfectly and hasn’t acted up like that since.
