CR-V Parking Brake

Once in a while I come across some small feature in a car that is really cleverly designed.

One example is the parking brake lever in the second generation Honda CR-V. It’s built into the dashboard on one side of the center stack, and the right side has a similar shaped handle to match. It’s good for the thousands of people that never touch their handbrake, because it’s pretty much completely out of the way, yet still within easy grasp.

In the UK most people use their handbrake all of the time. I kept seeing ads for this generation of CR-V and in the pictures the handbrake was always engaged, so I wondered why it looked so strange. It’s only now I’ve seen it disengaged that I realise why it’s like that. Excellent design!
