After a while the paint on wiper arms can turn into bare shiny metal, which can cause sun glare.
Mine have been that way for a while, so I finally got around to fixing that. Normally you would remove the wiper arms to do this, but mine are seized onto the studs, so I had to do this all on the car.
First step is to sand them down with 150 grit sandpaper to remove any loosening paint, rust, and to prep the surface to accept paint.
If I had the wiper arms off the car I’d hang them on something to paint them, but because I couldn’t I just covered the whole front end of my car with newspaper to protect from overspray.
It looks a little sloppy if you get up close, but from regular viewing distance the paint job looks fine. I also got some new wiper blades to compete the makeover. You don’t appreciate black wiper arms until you don’t have them anymore.
