Blown-out Run-flat

Usually when you get a flat tire, you need to immediately put on your spare tire. Some cars don’t have the space for a spare tire, so they come with either liquid tire sealant, or the car is equipped with special tires that are okay to drive on after they’ve lost all the air.

The type Toyota uses with their Sienna minivans is of the type that has an extra strong sidewall so it can still be driven several miles. That makes this blowout impressive to me. The sidewall is extra strong, but somehow something happened that caused a several inch section to break open.

One downside to run flats? Price. A set of 4 run flat tires, plus installation, can run you at least $1000.
