One of the techs in the shop was replacing the transmission in a Honda Fit. He was installing a used one from a junkyard, and everything went fine until he started it up.
When getting the used transmission ready to install, one small detail was missed. The end of one of the fluid passages had gotten broken off, either by mishandling at the junkyard, or because the car it was from had been in an accident. Regardless, fluid was just pouring out when the engine was running.
The junkyard sent over another transmission, and a few of us checked it over to make sure there was no damage. It looked good, so the tech swapped it in and everything was good. Always make sure you check over used parts carefully before installing so you don’t end up doing the same job twice.
