Makeshift Tools

There are a few jobs I always dread because they always take longer than they should because I can’t find the correct tools. One of those jobs is axle seal replacement.

There are supposed to be purpose built seal installers in the Honda special tool cabinet, but of course, over the years, they’ve all gone missing. Because of that, I have to find something else to use that can do the job okay. A lot of times I find a socket that’s just the right size, but in the case of the seal in the picture, an old bearing race I happened to have lying around was the exact perfect size for the rear differential oil seal. I’d prefer to use the specific designed tools, but sometimes I can make do without.
