The batteries in key remotes go dead after a few years, and they’re usually pretty easy to replace. Sometimes the screw doesn’t want to come out. I’ve known about this hack for a few years but never had to try it.
Besides your screwdriver, all you need is a lighter. Heat the metal part of the key close to plastic and screw. Be careful that you don’t start melting the plastic. After putting a bit of heat into it, try loosening the screw. It should be loosened up by the heat. Once you’ve removed it you can just wipe off the black from the metal.
