Recently I had a car in the shop for its yearly state inspection. It had a few problems, but probably the worst and most dangerous was the brakes.
Before I took the caliper off I could tell that some of the brake pad material was missing, and once I got it off the rest came out when I hammered the pad out of the holder. The customer apparently didn’t have the money for the work needed, so I ended up hammering the pad back into the holder with no friction material on it. I don’t like to do that, but sometimes I have to.
