For a non-mechanic, something like an engine replacement sounds like a big job. Usually those actually aren’t a bad time. What mechanics really dread are jobs that dig deep into other areas of the car.
One of those repairs is a wiring harness replacement. On modern cars it may not be possible to simply repair a damaged wire, because computer signals may be disrupted by a change in resistance in the wire after the repair, so often a full wiring harness replacement is needed.
Often this means removing most of the interior of car, or in the case of this Honda Ridgeline, completely removing the interior of pickup bed. At least it’s a new car and not completely rusty and a pain to disassemble.
